Awards and Recognition

Rita was named Top Family Law Attorney 2014 by the National Academy of Family Law Attorney.  She has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine for 5 consecutive years from 2012 through 2017.   She was recently named 2017 Top 10 Family Law Attorneys in Alabama by the American Institute for Family Law Attorneys.


Community Involvement


Rita has been a member of Fairhope Sunset Rotary since 2012, Impact 100 Baldwin County since 2012, and is a regular contributor to South Alabama Volunteer Lawyers, The Care House, FEEF and other local charities.

Law Related Activities


Rita was admitted to the State Bar in 2007 and practices primarily in the area of family law and probate matters as well as civil litigation.  


Rita was an Alabama Family Law Section Board Member from 2007 to 2013 serving as Member at Large, Treasurer, Co-Chair, Chair and Past Chair for the section.  Prior to be being admitted to practice, she was Assistant Treasurer for the Family Law Section from 2003 – 2007 and was recognized for her outstanding service.  She has served as Co-Director of the annual domestic relations seminar “Divorce on the Beach” in the years 2009, 2010, 2011 and Assistant Director of CLE on the Seas.  Her other involvements include:  State judge for the “We the People” Constitutional Law Competition in 2007 and 2008;  Scholarship Committee for Birmingham Bar 2010;  Alabama State Bar’s committee for Indigent Representation 2012;  Member of Birmingham Inns of Court and the Birmingham Bar Association 2007 through 2012.  She is a current member of the Baldwin County Bar Association and has completed extensive Mediation training at the Justice Center of Atlanta and has been listed on the Alabama Roster of Mediators since 2012.
