Mr. Romaine S. Scott, III passed away on September 19, 2016. Romaine and Rita founded Scott and Scott Law, LLC in 2012 after moving from Birmingham to Fairhope, Alabama. Romaine practiced law in Birmingham, Mobile and Fairhope for more than 35 years and served the Alabama State Bar on its Board of Bar Examiners. He also served as an editor on the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal and on the Alabama Lawyer. Romaine received numerous honors and recognitions for his service and professionalism during his career and maintained a top rating by his peers. He was a graduate of Indian Springs School in Helena, Alabama, Washington & Lee University and Cumberland School of Law of Samford University with honors. He loved music and was a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International for a number of years. Prior to becoming an attorney, Romaine was a newspaper journalist at the Birmingham News, the Birmingham Post Herald, Augusta (Georgia) Chronicle, Norfolk Ledger-Star/Virginian Pilot and the Roanoke (Virginia) Times at each of which he was a music and book review critic.
He is greatly missed by his colleagues, friends and family.
Romaine Scott was born in Birmingham, Alabama, graduated from Indian Springs School, Washington & Lee University and Cumberland School of Law. He has been named an Alabama Super Lawyer, has served as chair of the Alabama State Bar Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section and has served as an Alabama State Bar Board of Bar Examiners. His practice is focused on business formation, transactions and litigation.
